Resistivity

This is a versatile practical in the sense that it can be used with almost any aspect of practical work as the focus. 
An important idea to introduce is that of reducing the biggest cause of uncertainty before trying to improve the effects of lesser causes. As an example, it would be a good idea to use a micrometer rather than a vernier calliper for  measuring the diameter of the wire - a small increase in the precision of the diameter gives a much better precision in the cross sectional area. However, using meters with a smaller resolution would be pointless if the uncertainty in the cross sectional area was still large.

This is also a good opportunity to get students to use spreadsheets to do their number crunching for them, feeding in data as they are taken and producing graphs automatically.
