The Diffraction Grating

A classic practical and a relatively straightforward one. A graphical method is included but using the formula and treating uncertainties accordingly could be enough.
An interesting variation is to use CDs and DVDs and compare the number of 'pits' per unit length. The top disc of a stack of purchased blanks is usually free from silver coating and can be used as a transmission grating.
